About Jacki Glover
"Jacki Glover is a truly amazing speaker. She is like a breath of fresh air, integrating her vast wealth of experience in a clinical setting with her expert knowledge of research findings - particularly in the areas of newborns and breastfeeding. Jacki's sense of caring, derived both from her profession of nursing and from her own personal family experience, comes through clearly. I always benefit from the research Jacki shares with her audiences. Moreover, I always leave Jacki's sessions feeling a sense of wonder, and a sense of being called to respect the mother, the baby and the family."
- Dr. Patricia Martens (BSc, Cert Ed, MSc, IBCLC, PhD) Professor and Acting Director External Relations, Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, University of Manitoba
For over twenty-five years, Jacki has worked with breastfeeding mothers in a variety of capacities. After the birth of her two children she became involved in La Leche League and volunteered as a La Leche League Leader for nine years. In 1981, as an ASPO Certified Childbirth Educator, Jacki created a prenatal program at the Lethbridge (Alberta) Regional Hospital and acted as its coordinator until 1990. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 1988 and ran the Lethbridge Regional Hospital/Chinook Health Region Breastfeeding Support Services full time from 1988-2002.
Jacki has been a strong supporter of the UNICEF/WHO Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative™ and has been involved with the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada.
She has conducted workshops and seminars locally, nationally and internationally. In September 2002, she was able to realize a life long dream to work directly with nursing students in the Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta program. She has found this to be a profound and stimulating experience.
